KINKSTER: a person who enjoys "kinky," non-vanilla sexual activities and/or fantasies that are considered to fall outside the norm. One’s personal “kinks” refer to those BDSM activities that they are excited and aroused by. The term kink is often used synonymously with BDSM.

SUBMISSIVE: the bottom participant who enjoys the psychological D/s play dynamic in a BDSM scene. A submissive willingly gives up control to the dominant, usually enjoys protocol play and calling her by her chosen honorific or title – Mistress, Goddess, Ma’am, etc., and enjoys being in and acting the part of the subservient role. There are varying degrees of submissiveness as well as individual preferences, and this can also change and evolve in time.

BOTTOM: A bottom is someone who enjoys bottoming in a BDSM scene without the D/s play dynamics or psychological domination. This is a person who often enjoys having “stuff done to them” by the Domme (the “Top”), but the interaction between them is more casual, containing less or no protocol. The Top/bottom dynamic looks more like “2 equal partners with one topping the other,” rather than the “Domme-sub” dynamic which includes protocols and verbal domination. A bottom may or may not call the Domme “Mistress” or other honorifics. They are not necessarily submissive but can be with certain play partners in certain types of scenes.

MASOCHIST: a bottom player who takes pleasure in or is aroused, stimulated or excited by the experience, memory, or idea of physical or mental pain or suffering given by the Domme/sadist. This pain/suffering can come from a variety of sources, like corporal punishment/impact play, nipple torture, cock and ball torture, breath deprivation, mindfucking, or just plain cruelty and control. Prenegotiated communication about specific pain/suffering activities and levels is vital. A clear understanding of how much and what types of physical and mental masochism needs to be had. For example, one may not be able to physically take a severe punishment but the idea of it is arousing or exciting, so a Domme can use the threat of punishment as part of the play in scene.

FETHISIST: an individual or bottom player in a BDSM scene who is aroused, stimulated or excited by the sight, feel, or smell of particular clothing items or body parts of the Domme, which are identified as fetishes. These could be things like feet, legs, breasts, high-heeled shoes or boots, lingerie, stockings, latex, leather, skirts, glasses, and the list is endless. Literally anything can be a fetish because fetishes are so individual. Sometimes fetishists enjoy wearing those fetishized items as well as seeing their Domme in them.

HUMILIATION: a kink based in physical, verbal, emotional or sexual humiliation that is highly subjective in preferences and context. The tone of humiliation is that of playful, teasing abasement. Dommes often laugh and have fun at the sub’s expense during humiliation play. Erotic humiliation can be things like golden showers, forced-bi, being called certain trigger names like slut, cocksucker. Mocking humiliation is a totally different vibe, and it is important to understand the difference because those who like erotic humiliation generally do not like mocking humiliation and vice versa. Correct, healthy humiliation play should only take place with an established, consented understanding of the sub’s particular kinks.

DEGRADATION is a kink that centers on the removal of dignity and dehumanizing of the sub. It is somewhat related to humiliation but is actually a whole other kink. Think of humiliation being on the light end of the spectrum and degradation at the dark end. If the tone of humiliation is that of playful, teasing abasement, the tone of degradation is a more serious, harsher one of debasement. The Domme has a straightforward or condemning attitude. The sub might be kept in a cage, commanded to worship her feet, be her foot stool, forced to eat the Domme’s chewed up food or drink the her urine. These same activities can also NOT be seen as degrading but worshipful, and things that are done to bring the sub closer to the Domme. The Domme’s attitude can be matter of fact, loving or mean when doing the activities. All of these approaches depend on the sub’s particular kinks and fantasies.

FEMINIZATION/SISSIFICATION: a kink and fetish where a biological male is made transform into a female under the direction of the Domme, either cooperatively or forced (forced feminization). The impact is erotic or humiliating or both. Feminization can include some to all of the following, depending on the individual: wearing female undergarments and/or clothing, makeup, nail polish, a wig or feminine hairstyle and/or hair accessories. The sissy usually takes on a female name that is either self-chosen or selected by the Domme and called by female pronouns (she/her). She is trained by the Domme to adopt feminine mannerisms, a higher-pitched feminine voice, and is commonly instructed to shave off all body hair (underarms, genitals, legs, etc.). Their anatomically male body parts are generally called by female terms (pussy, clit, labia, tits). Sissification styles range from light cross-dressing to sissymaid to sissyslut to anywhere in-between or beyond.
